Unless you know me personally, chances are you were looking for medical advice or a recipe and stumbled upon this. Your Kitchen Prescription. Either way, half of it seems irrelevant to what you needed. Bear with me for a minute, and let me tell you why regardless of how you got here, you may find just what you are searching for.
I began this blog as a way to learn about and share the benefit of connecting cooking with medicine. As an incoming medical student and someone who has been involved in the medical field for more than 8 years, I hope to bring a new perspective to how we feed our minds and bodies. Now there are plenty of doctors out there telling you and how and what to eat, but how often are those ideas ones your entire family can endure and afford? Sure there are plenty of trendy diets and green drinks promising the fountain of youth, but what about sustainable and well balanced meals and tips for maintaining a lifetime of health through food?
That is exactly what I’m here attempting to find. As a beginner to the practice of mindfulness, an avid scientist in the kitchen, and passionate consumer of medical knowledge, I need a way to maintain my health while going through the rigors of a medical education on a budget. Whether you are a student, a young professional, or on a tight budget like so many of us are, I hope you will find these ideas and discussion helpful.
I will be posting recipes and updates to the website here as well as on Facebook (Your Kitchen Prescription) and Instagram (@yourkitchenprescription), so follow along on my journey and share your own!
